Official says several states favor Russia's expulsion from IAEA

WASHINGTON, Mar 15 (PRIME) -- Several countries want Russia's expulsion from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Director General Rafael Grossi said late on Tuesday.

“Many people believe that because of the… (military operation) and what’s going on, Russia’s presence (within the organization) needs to be downgraded,” the official said.

“Some go to extremes and recommend firing from the agency. But speaking at a panel at the Washington-based CSIS think tank (Center for Strategic and International Studies), in this case we’re talking about international organizations and that kind of thing.”

He added that the agency was in contact with the countries demanding Russia's exit in order to solve the disagreements.
